Division 4 Winter 2011-2012 |
|
Division 4 offers returning 2nd graders and more athletic newcomers (1st and 2nd graders) a more competitive environment as they ready for divisional play.
This year, Chino Valley is changing the format of our Division 4 league. In the past, Division 4 offered eight weeks of advanced drills and controlled scrimmages. Starting with the 2011/2012 season, the Division 4 teams will play 8 regulation games governed by Division 3 (3rd & 4th Grade) rules. Games will be of a training nature but obvious violations (i.e., double dribble, traveling and fouls) and enforcement of specific Division 3 rules will occur.
Coaches may practice for a maximum of 2 hours per week. Players are split into teams based upon evaluation scores. Registration requests to play with friends and or for specific coaches will be evaluated but not guaranteed. The focus will be on team equality.
In weeks 7 and 8 the Division 4 teams will play in our annual "Division 4 Challenge". Winners will advance to the championship bracket and the non-winners will advanced to the consolation bracket.
NJB headquarters will hold its annual Division 4 Tournament on February 18-19. The Rookie Director and Division 4 coaches will select an All Star team to represent our chapter at this event.
Division 4 players receive a Chino Valley NJB uniform, a youth-size basketball, pictures, and a player participation award.
Players wishing to play Division 4 MUST attend the player evaluation in order to support team creation and be sized for a uniform. Failure to do so may result in assignment to our Rookie League.
Division 4 sessions are tentatively scheduled for: DATES: Sundays (11/27, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18, 1/8, 1/15)
Weeks 7 & 8 (1/22 & 1/29) will be the "Division 4 Challenge" (times and location TBD)
See our Schedules webpage for game and Tournament schedule.
